Did you know that Book of Love covered LiLiPUT? I sure didn't! I just rewatched American Psycho, which has a great New Wave soundtrack AND a score by John Cale (another thing I didn't know until tonight!), and one of the songs on it is that Book of Love one, "I Touch Roses". A friend recently played their first (self-titled) album for me and I remember liking one particular song on it, and I was just clicking around YouTube and Wikipedia looking for it, and instead I saw the Schiff/Marder names on the album writers list. Yikes! Why did they choose to cover it? Because it's great? Because they wanted to show off their harder, post-punk roots?
Whatever the reason, I gave the song a listen and it's just...not as good as the original. Let's not make this mistake! But here it is anyway. And the original, to cleanse the ears.
